Exam Fever

Tring tring

D2: Hullo
Me: Hi sweetheart
D2: Hi Amma
Me: So, how was the day in school?
D2: Oh good, Amma.
Me: How was your exam?
D2: Nice, Amma.
Me: Only Nice?
D2: Ok. It was good. (Did she say that to oblige me?)
Me: How much do you think you will get?
D2: I did EVERYTHING RIGHT. I will get FULL Marks!
Me: Oh well.... got the point

Now I am wondering whether I should be happy and encourage this confidence or pray that she becomes more serious !

Dame:
She is all of 10 and I think by this age, I used to get exam fever just by hearing the word "exam" :)
But I am not complaining. I am happy that she is happy-go-lucky :)
My elder one is quite the opposite... taken on me!

Well , as long as she scores good..you should not be doing anything. Each child is different you know. You should be happy that she doesnot get exam fever and yet scores good.
For me , I used to gain weight during exams ..can u believe ..no one does.. :)

Lol Full marks to her for making us all smile.
You should be glad she does not shake and shiver at the thought of exams. :-)

Swati :

Even I gained weight during my boards. Maybe because it was the no-exercise-just-sitting phase! Otherwise I generally lost my appetite :)

JLT :

Yeah I am glad! Really. And yet sometimes I feel maybe I should push her more... so she can be more ambitious :)

my brother will always (belive me always) say that out of portion question/ every one did badly or tough question or long guestion paper. and then will say but after all exam scores will not matter, placement will matter

In these days of continuous assessment how do you expect her to be serious at the age of 10.Expectations have to be realistic. In these days of competition do let her relax.

Please do not push her. The system will. Encourage her confidence and when the answer paper comes gently point out where she could have done better within her capabilities.

ITW :
hahaha... well it is true isnt it? These days your success in career depends on how smart you are rather than how good you were in academics!

Hip Grandma:
I am sorry if I was sounding ambitious. I was just amused, really! I am not one of the paranoid mums! Thank you for showing concern. I am touched!

Usha :
Thank you too. I am following what you have written.

JLT :
MORAL SCIENCE? One more H/W :(

JLT :
One more H/W is pending... thinking bloggers one... but I guess I am still doing my research!! :)

The only thing I dread about having a kid is having to relive school all over again. That waking up when it is dark (oh, how start-up IT jobs spoil us!), catching a school bus in freezing cold, scrunching into oneself to avoid being seen in the corridor, doodling away in class while the teacher drones, the fearful PT class when you have to do 20 push ups (huff puff) and finally, the exams.

If you don't happy-go-lucky, the whole concept of school is devised such that no matter what you do, you end up feeling miserable.

30 years on the planet have taught me one thing-- exams don't matter. At all. I have a kid now and boy, I hope he doesn't wait 30 years to realise this little fact :-)

Sweet post!

You are absolutely right. Exams dont make a difference at all. Hope our kids are street-smart, thats all I ask :)
